Update: 7/7/10

Ventura’s own It’s in the Sauce will be at the show serving up some of the greatest Texas style BBQ you have ever tasted. So no more long walks and long lines for food at this Treffen. (Dare I say, it could be one of the best part of our show!)

Update: 4/12/2010

Make all your reservations EARLY! The California Coast is a big destination with very limited resources for lodging and/or camping.

The host hotel for the VW Treffen Show, Casa Via Mar is filling up fast for the night of 8/6! So book now!! (805-984 6222). Westies are welcomed to stay for FREE at Airhead Parts the Friday night before the show.

Non Campers: Two Notes!

1. By the time you read this we will have added most, if not all of the camp grounds. Most of these have cabins if you don’t have a Westy or a tent). These go for about ½ of what a hotel room will go for in the area. So if you’re on a budget or just like hanging out with the T-2 crowd in the evening (and who wouldn’t ?!?), this is for you!

2. Tuesday Night 8/3 is "Camp Night" at the North Noyo Campground: 707-961-1511 (again, please make reservations early). All Motel dwellers are encouraged to pitch a tent at the campground ($12!) for the night. We will meet up early at the campground (after checking in) for a nearby Kayak Adventure led by Capt Scott (aka "the Ghia Guy"). Afterwards, bust out your musical instruments, hot dogs and smores makings. Brush up on a scary story or two....

4/10/2010

Hello!  We're excited to get on the road again this year, and hope you are too!  Over the years, the cruise has taken many routes--  from short day trips, to a cross country trek in 2005 that saw us travel all of Route 66, before heading to Florida, and then back home.

Two years ago, for Treffen 10, we did a run up to the Bay area & back that really got our (internal) wheels turning!  We decided to make Highway 1 the official cruise route & moved our annual AHP/KG Treffen Cruise & Car Show from May to August.  Scott called up Ashley at Always V-Dub in Portland and asked if he'd like to cross promote the Treffen with the Always V-Dub Rose City Bug In, and he loved the idea.  Always V-Dub returns again this year as an official sponsor.  The 2010 Rose City Bug In will be held Sunday August 1.  We'll post more info as it becomes available.

Scott pre-ran the Treffen 10 Highway 1 route in his Vanagon, then drove it again on the actual cruise.  Last year, he drove a bug, but many other cruisers brought their Bus's & Vans & camped out each night.  At the suggestion of campers last year, we're including campground information for each night to make it easy for everyone to meet up.  This got us thinking and a call was placed to GoWesty to see if they'd be interested in coming along.  The result was a full sponsorship, a GoWesty prepped camper joining us, and a gererous offer of a shop tour and breakfast for the cruisers on Friday morning!  Thanks, GoWesty!

We'll meet up again this year with Bill's VW Repair & the rest of the HumBug VW Club in Eureka for a picnic lunch in the Redwoods.  In 2009, the crew at Bill's stayed open late into the night to get a broken down beetle back on the road.  This year, they're sponsoring!

The usual players also return--  Karmann Ghia Parts and Restoration, who started this event 12 years ago, Airhead Parts, Barber Volkswagen of Ventura, whose many years of support we appreciate, and HotVW's has pledged to cover the cruise and the show.

Speaking of the show, we're doing it again this year at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, about one hour north of Los Angeles.  Last year, almost 200 cars parked on the grass in the harbor--  free!  That's right, the show is totally free again!  Free spectator rntry, FREE car show registration and FREE swap space!  As always, there'll be trophies, food and fun!  Come on out and enjoy the cool ocean breeze, Saturday August 7.

Keep checking back here for details!

Thanks,
AHP/KGPR
