I was very much honored (understatement) to win the international awards at Treffen 12. Karmann Ghias have been a hobby and a passion of mine since I was a kid and it was truly an excellent feeling to be recognized internationally. I will cherish these memories and awards for the rest of my life.

My boyfriend took video of the entire award presentation and surprised me with a really cool video when I came home from work on Sunday. My boyfriend has it posted on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xemrYBUcMA.

I have to say that I'm somewhat embarrassed to share it because it looks like I'm showing off by posting this video and I'm really not that type of person, but my boyfriend insisted to post this video of me winning these special awards. Oh well, let him have his fun.

It was a true pleasure meeting and sharing Karmann Ghia stories and this special day with both Antonio and Luigi.

My very very special thank-you goes to Scott Dempster (owner of Karmann Ghia Parts & Restorations as well as Airhead Parts) for sharing his passion and dedication of Karmann Ghias with all of us Ghia enthusiasts around the World. Without a person like Scott, many of these parts for our Karmann Ghias wouldn’t be available and who knows where our cars would be now without someone like Scott in the business.

I first met Scott in 1989. I had just moved to California and was looking for some Karmann Ghia parts for my 1970 coupe. It was my first trip to the Pomona Swap meet and I was grooming the VW section for Karmann Ghia parts. I came across this blonde-haired, tan surfer dude who was selling a bunch of Ghia parts and promoting this new business called Karmann Ghia Parts and Restorations. He was the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic Karmann Ghia person that I had ever come across. He sure left a lasting impression on me that day as I still continue to pick his brain about certain Karmann Ghia details and whenever I start a restoration I pull out the KGPR Catalog and start making my list. Thank you, Scott!
